The company first started trading in 1964 under the name of K. Lilley (Joinery Manufactures & Contractors) under the vision of Ken Lilley. In 1996 Ken retired and his son Paul Lilley took over the business.
Paul integrated his own building company into his own fathers joinery company and with him he brought his own list of clients. Combined, Paul found that the workload had almost doubled overnight, so he sought to employ his own in-house team of Roofers, Bricklayers and General Builders. Electrical work and plumbing work was still subcontracted out on a daily basis.
With the increased workload came increased turnover, so in February of 1999 the Company became limited and so P.J Lilley Ltd. Joiners and Contractors was born. Since this time, the Company has gone from strength to strength, almost trebling its list of clients and now employing over thirty full time staff.
